The Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital Foundation was created to help Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital provide high-quality and compassionate care to its patients and their families. Formally launched in the fall of 2005, the mission of the Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital Foundation is to support Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital by funding priority Capital and equipment needs.

Our Foundation’s name honours the century-long tradition of Hôtel-Dieu and the Salvation Army Grace Hospitals’ caring for the community.

We offer people like you—grateful patients, families, concerned citizens and organizations—the unique opportunity to make a difference, whether it is supporting new or refurbished patient-care facilities, purchasing equipment, or funding our new medical school.

With the generous support of the community, the Foundation successfully raised funds to purchase an Echocardiogram Machine, a Breast Specimen Analyzer, a Breast MRI, a Spect CT Scanner, a number of much needed Wheelchairs, and refurbished two Palliative Care Suites —all in its inaugural year.

Egidio Sovran, Founder and Past President of the Foundation, says that while he’s proud of the successes achieved last year, this is only the beginning. “We are very thankful for the generosity of our community,” he says, “but even with the greatest support from our donors and volunteers, there will always be facilities to upgrade, new technology to introduce, and new equipment to acquire.”

The hospital recently finalized its five-year capital plan, and the Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital Foundation is moving forward to provide the critical support needed to ensure that the technology and equipment needs identified by the hospital’s healthcare professionals, are realized.

A 64-Slice CT Scanner, currently the gold standard in Diagnostic Imaging Technology, is high on the capital and equipment needs list, as is the state-of-the-art equipment required for the Angioplasty Program that is planned to launch in May 2007. With cutting-edge technologies and programs like these, Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital and its team of dedicated medical professionals will continue to meet the healthcare needs of Windsor-Essex County in the years ahead.
