When you arrive on the unit, you may be asked to wait in the waiting room before a nurse takes your blood pressure, pulse, and temperature, and briefly reviews your previously taken medical history with you. If you have allergies or are currently experiencing any illness, let them know. If you are experiencing a fever and/or cold symptoms, you may be required to have your surgery rescheduled, depending on the severity.

You will then be asked to change into a hospital gown and housecoat, and dentures, eye glasses, and other prosthesis will be removed prior to surgery.

.The nurse may start an intravenous and/or give medication if required by your physician.

Sometimes, unavoidable delays in the operating room affect the surgery schedule. We appreciate your patience.
