Pastoral Services

An important part of HDGH’S mission includes recognizing that spiritual care and religious resources are integral components of healing and wellness. Pastoral Services plays a significant role in supporting the concept of holistic health by recognizing the importance of integrating spiritual, emotional, social, and physical care in healing.

Chaplains understand the special needs of patients, their families and hospital staff and the impact illness can have emotionally and spiritually. Chaplains support our hospital community by drawing on their own religious and spiritual resources to maintain hope, uphold human dignity and address questions of meaning in the face of crisis or chronic suffering. Chaplains provide intensive pastoral care, respond to referrals, trauma and all crisis calls, participate in interdisciplinary patient care rounds and physician/family conferences, conduct patient religious assessments, provide end-of-life pastoral care to patients and their families and conduct religious services.
