Pet Visitation Program
HDGH is proud to offer our pet visitation program that is coordinated through our Volunteer Department. We recognize the many physical and emotional benefits this program offers our patients. Research has shown that talking to or petting an animal lowers blood pressure and helps relieve stress. These huggable "healthcare" workers provide their unique service not only to our patients, but to our staff members and visitors as well.
Pet visits
If you are interested in a pet visit, or if you and your pet are interested in participating in this rewarding program, please contact your Unit Chaplain, Nursing Manager or Volunteer Services.
Only pets that have successfully completed the Citizens Advocacy training course may visit patients, and they are restricted to specific areas of the hospital and only with healthcare staff and patient consent.
