The Environmental Services Department at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital provides a clean, healthy, and safe environment for our patients, staff and visitors. Our competent staff maintains exceptional standards of cleanliness in our facility by adhering to the ‘Cleaning Standards For Health-Care Facilities’ (Ontario Health-Care Housekeepers Association).
We provide service 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and supervisors are on duty from 6:00am to 10:00pm, seven days a week.
We provide the regular cleaning, waste removal, linen services, discharge cleaning, furniture movement, and “on-call” service to handle a myriad of requests related to housekeeping functions. Our waste management program adheres to all legislative requirements related to the safe handling, storage, and disposal of general waste, hazardous waste, bio-medical waste, and recyclable materials. We provide and maintain a needle disposal system, in regular hospital use, that restricts hand access to discarded needles and sharps.
Our Sharps Awareness Program has been in place since 1991 providing a safe used needle disposal system. Registered users include the public, medical clinics, dental clinics, and veterinarian clinics.
