Intensive Care Unit


The Intensive Care Unit at HDGH is a 20-bed unit located on the third and top floor of the diagnostic and treatment wing. Staffed by a dedicated and highly skilled team of healthcare professionals, this state of-the-art unit provides the best in Critical Care to patients from Trauma, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Vascular Surgery, Renal, as well as complicated medical patients.

Our ICU offers a multidisciplinary approach to care that involves a Medical Director, an MD of Respirology and Intensive Care Medicine, two Critical Care Nurse Practitioner’s, a staff of qualified Critical Care Nurses, a Clinical Educator, Respiratory Therapist, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Dietitian, Chaplain, Social Worker, Pharmacist, and Ward Aide.

Our mission is to provide holistic health care in a compassionate and empathetic manner, and to provide care to the acutely ill patient requiring invasive and non-invasive monitoring. Through continuous education in critical care and related fields, we strive to keep ourselves current in advanced medical techniques.

Visiting hours for the ICU differ from the usual hospital visiting hours. Immediate family only are allowed to visit from 12:00 noon to 6:00pm and also from 8:00pm to 10:00pm. One to two visitors at the bedside for short periods as time and patient care permits. Our three ward clerks are experts at fielding your calls and assisting with communication from our Waiting Room area.

 

For safety reasons, please do not send flowers or plants to patients in the ICU.
