Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare Continues a Community Tradition; Launches 27th Annual Tree of Lights Campaign
WINDSOR, ON - Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare kicked off a longstanding community tradition Thursday with the official launch of the 27th Annual Tree of Lights Campaign. Spanning nearly three decades, the Tree of Lights Giving Campaign traces its roots back to the former Grace site of Hôtel-Dieu Grace.
Over the years, families in Windsor and Essex County have given generously to make the Tree of Lights Campaign a success through donations in memory of, or in honour of those special people in their lives. For every donation made an ornament is placed on a Christmas Tree at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare and an ornament is sent to the donor to place on their own Christmas Tree at home.
"Hôtel-Dieu Grace has been caring for our community for 125 years. By continuing such traditions as the Tree of Lights Campaign, we honour this history while raising funds to support our current day program needs," states Bill Marra, Sr. Director Partnerships, Planning, Communications and Development. "This year, all funds raised through the Tree of Lights Campaign will support the Triple P Parenting Program at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare. Last year alone, over 850 parents benefitted from the Positive Parenting Program and with the support of this campaign, we are looking to extend this support to even more local families in the coming year."
Members of the local Salvation Army Band were on hand playing traditional Christmas carols adding to the event's festive spirit. The Christmas Tree which was lit following a countdown by HDGH staff, volunteers, visitors and physicians will shine brightly in the Ken Lewenza Lobby - Tayfour Tower entrance at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, located at 1453 Prince Road throughout the holiday season.
