Organ and Tissue Donation Unites Faith Leaders

Most major religions support organ and tissue donation because it can save the life of another.

That’s the message faith leaders want to disseminate on Wed., April 13th, at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital, where representatives of various backgrounds will discuss perspectives associated with becoming an organ and tissue donor.

The event will be held in advance of National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week (April 17-23), when HDGH will install new displays around the hospital which will carry Trillium Gift of Life brochures regarding faith-based  perspectives on organ and tissue donation. Funds for displays which will hold the brochures were raised by members of Windsor Police Service.

Event Highlights:
Maria Giannotti, Director, Mission & Pastoral Services at HDGH will moderate a discussion among local faith leaders including:
• Father Christopher Bourdeau (Catholic)
• Sheikh Abdullah Hammoud (Islam)
• Pastor Mike Lees (Lutheran)
• Dr. Paresh Pandya (Hindu)
• Major Violet Chaulk (Salvation Army Chaplain)
• Rabbi Jeffrey Ableser (Judaism – unable to attend but will provide remarks in advance)
