Life for 1500: Windsor/Essex Initiative Aims to Save 1500 Lives as Part of National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week
L’Essor High School is hosting an awareness event aimed at saving the lives of the 1500 Ontarians currently on the wait list for a life-saving organ transplant.
Event Highlights: Representatives from the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Cystic Fibrosis Canada and Trillium Gift of Life Network will be speaking to students to kick off National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week, educating them on the importance of registering their consent.
Bianca Jones, a L’Essor graduate, will be speaking to the students about the importance of registering their consent to donate. Bianca’s father, Officer Rob Jones, dies waiting for a liver transplant. That is the reality in Ontario – every 3 days someone dies waiting for a life-saving organ transplant.
