HDGH Honours Dr. Percy Demers in Special Dedication
 

WHAT:            A special ceremony to name the HDGH Cardiac Care Centre in honour of the late Dr. Percy Demers.

The newly named Dr. Percy Demers Cardiac Care Centre will include a plaque situated on the 4th floor of the hospital.

The Dr. Percy Demers Cardiac Care Centre will include:
- The Anthony F. Fuerth Cardiac Care Unit;
- 4 Medical/Telemetry Ward;
- Cardiac Catheterization/Angioplasty;
- Cardiac Diagnostics;
- Arrhythmia/Pacemaker Device Clinic

Also, a bursary in Dr. Demers’ name will be awarded annually to a medical student who best exemplifies the attributes of collegiality, teamwork, trustworthiness and patient focus.

About Dr. Demers:

 

Dr. Demers was an extraordinarily gifted and compassionate healer who devotedly attended to the needs of his patients and their families. Dr. Demers was a valued mentor and friend to cardiac caregivers and staff. He will forever be remembered for his leadership in establishing a cardiac care program of excellence for the residents of Windsor-Essex.

 

He served with distinction at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital from 1960 to 2002, including eight years as Chief of Medicine.
