High Marks for Hospital Standards National Surveyor Awards HDGH with Three-Year Accreditation
(Windsor, ON) – A national organization that assesses hospital standards has given staff at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital reason to celebrate ahead of tonight’s annual fundraising gala.
Accreditation Canada, a not-for-profit, independent organization that provides health organizations with an external peer review to assess the quality of their services based on standards of excellence, has awarded HDGH with a full three-year accreditation.
HDGH received a mark of 98% based on the criteria for full accreditation, an achievement reached by only 20% of organizations surveyed in 2010.
Four surveyors from Accreditation Canada visited HDGH in October to objectively evaluate its performance against national standards of excellence from patient safety and ethics, to staff training and partnering with our community.
“This is truly a milestone to be celebrated, and we congratulate you and your team for your commitment to providing safe, high quality health services,” said Suzanne Larocque, Chair, Accreditation Decision Committee.
HDGH’s next accreditation review will take place in 2014.
Accreditation is a voluntary process in which healthcare organizations assess themselves against a set of evidence-based national safety and quality standards.
Tonight, the Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital Foundation will host its Venetian Masked Ball. It’s the hospital’s annual signature fundraising event, with proceeds supporting the purchase of specialized, technically advanced medical equipment for improved patient care and recovery.
Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital plays a unique role in Windsor-Essex as the regional provider of advanced care in such areas as complex trauma, renal dialysis, cardiac care, stroke and neurosurgery, acute mental health and a broad range of medical and surgical services required to support these specialized areas.
