HDGH Receives Healthy Workplace Award
(Windsor, ON) Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital has been awarded a Platinum Healthy Workplace Award. The Working Toward Wellness Healthy Workplace Awards recognize workplaces in Windsor and Essex County that provide comprehensive wellness programs to their employees, retirees, and family members. This is the hospital’s first platinum level award, which represents the highest achievement. Previously HDGH has received 5 gold awards and one bronze award.
HDGH Chaplain, Captain Linda Daley, took a lead role in championing the hospital’s increased efforts to provide a healthier workplace and made the application for this prestigious award. According to Captain Daley, “the hospital has been very proactive in creating a workplace environment that encourages staff to consider and take advantage of healthy work and life balancing opportunities.” Some of the activities contributing to HDGH’s healthy workplace include: the staff gym, encouraging staff to bike to work and providing space for staff to park their bikes, healthy menu choices at the Mainstreet Cafe, the staff wellness bulletin board, spa day and on-site Weight Watchers.
“At Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital, creating a healthy, family-friendly workplace isn’t an afterthought -it’s a central part of our Strategic Priorities. We continue to be committed to improving the health and wellbeing of our most valuable asset our employees,” explained Maria Giannotti, Director of Pastoral and Mission Services.
The award is sponsored by Go For Health Windsor-Essex and the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit, who are dedicated to promoting and supporting comprehensive workplace wellness programs in Windsor-Essex County.
