MEDIA ADVISORY   For Immediate Release April 16, 2012   NOTE: Announcement will take place at approximately 12:45 p.m.   Special Announcement Benefiting Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital's Beyond Medicine Campaign   WHAT The Volunteer Executive along with Charles Silinskas, President of the Volunteer Association of Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital will make an important announcement regarding the hospital’s Beyond Medicine Campaign at the Association’s annual volunteer recognition luncheon. Bill Marra Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital Foundation President and Executive Director, as well as Ken Deane, Provincial Supervisor will also participate in the announcement. Beyond Medicine is the hospital’s fundraising campaign to help build a 75,000-square-foot, three-story expansion that will provide much needed space to accommodate expanded cardiac services as well as the majority of the hospital’s existing outpatient and ambulatory clinics, which will in turn allow greater use of the existing site including new, dedicated space for medical students. The cornerstone of the expansion is a 10,445 square-foot Cardiac Care Centre which will allow for round-the-clock cardiac angioplasty (PCI) procedures. Currently, HDGH hosts only one cardiac angioplasty lab available to patients until early evening, a circumstance which limits HDGH’s ability to treat all of the area’s emergency cardiac cases. The new facility will house two state-of-the-art cardiac angioplasty suites.
