Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has now declared Hôtel Dieu Grace Healthcare (HDGH) in an Influenza Outbreak on 2 South and 3 North of the Emara Building. It is important to know that currently, HDGH still has only one confirmed case of Influenza A and that patient has been removed from isolation and is recovering. However we have had an increase in the number of suspected cases from 5 to 10.
Hôtel-Dieu Grace is requesting that if you have a cold or flu-like symptoms such as fever, runny nose, cough or muscle aches, that you do not visit the hospital until all of your symptoms are gone.
Children under the age of 14 years are no longer able to attend the affected areas at 2 South and 3 North of the Emara Building. We are strongly discouraging all others from visiting however if family or friends are visiting 2 South or 3 North, you will be required to wear a surgical mask while on the unit. There are no new admissions being taken for 2 South or 3 North.
As always, frequent hand washing is encouraged for all visitors to the campus.
Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare will be scheduling a Press Conference for sometime Thursday January 8th, 2015 in order to provide a further update. Specific details are to follow as to time and location of the Press Conference.
