At the Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital Foundation, we are honoured to be supported by all the thoughtful and caring individuals and organizations who believe in the Beyond Medicine Campaign. We want to say “thanks” for their support and share their story and tell you about how their commitment is helping us achieve our goals.

A Strategic Investment

United Communities Credit Union (UCCU) sincerely believes that the credit union exists not only to meet the financial goals and aspirations of its Member/Owners, but to serve the greater good of our communities.

The credit union is an active participant in community life helping the communities in which it does business, to grow and prosper, so that a good quality of life can be enjoyed by all.

Many of their staff are also community volunteers. They coach our youth teams, help in area food banks, they are Big Brothers and Big Sisters and serve their faith communities. UCCU volunteers contribute over 7000 hours of service to the communities in which they live and work. But more importantly, in whatever they do, they help enrich the lives of the people they touch by simply, sharing their time and talents.

United Communities Credit Union also does it on a larger scale, by making strategic investments in our communities to support the institutions and organizations that make a difference in the daily lives of people in places like Windsor-Essex. UCCU is proud supporter of our local, recreation, cultural, education and healthcare institutions. Over the past several years the credit union has helped support the medical education building at the University of Windsor, the new United Communities Credit Union complex in Amherstburg, and the Beyond Medicine Campaign, here at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital.

UCCU makes these investments without reservation, because they know that in doing so, they are making our communities stronger. Their investments are providing resources for infrastructure that will attract people and business to our communities that in turn, will help create conditions not only for economic growth, but also conditions that enable families and individuals to reach their full potential.

We are thrilled to receive their gift that will help provide advanced cardiac care to the residents of Windsor-Essex.

Patients and Their Families First

Families First celebrated the grand opening of their Riverside location by making a significant contribution to advanced cardiac care in Windsor-Essex. Managing Director and President, Brian Parent and Vice-President Mary-Lynn Parent of Families First presented the Foundation with a $50,000 donation for the Beyond Medicine campaign.

The Parent family is all too familiar with cardiac disease. Brian’s father, Jim Parent a well-known community volunteer and retired Windsor Police Service detective, died as a result of heart disease. Brian and Mary Lynn made their contribution to honour the memory of the family patriarch. Their donation will be used to provide a private waiting room in the angioplasty cardiac care facility for patient families to have a peaceful area for their use while their loved one receives treatment.

“This is an extremely generous gift to the Beyond Medicine Campaign. Jim Parent was a caring individual and was committed to making people’s lives better through the Windsor Goodfellows. The holiday season was much brighter for many families in this community because of his leadership. We are pleased that his family has chosen our campaign to honour his legacy,” said Loris Macor, President of the Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital Foundation.
