Supporting Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital
The Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital Foundation was created to help Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital provide high-quality and compassionate care to its patients and their families. Formally launched in the fall of 2005, as the Heart of the City Hospital Foundation, our mission is to support Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital by funding priority capital and equipment needs. In 2008, the Foundation changed its name to Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital Foundation to honour and better reflect the century-long tradition of Hôtel-Dieu and the Salvation Army Grace Hospitals' caring for the community.
Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital is a recognized leader in providing new cutting-edge services and procedures to meet our community's healthcare needs. Our healthcare team has the skills and services you need, and with your help, we can give these dedicated professionals the tools and facilities they need to deliver their expert medical services. By working together we can raise our region's level of healthcare to new heights and take medicine beyond anything Windsor and Essex County has experienced.
The Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital Foundation is the way for people like you, grateful patients, families, concerned citizens and organizations-to make a difference and an investment in the future of our community's healthcare, whether it is supporting new or refurbished patient-care facilities, purchasing leading-edge medical or diagnostic equipment or funding innovative medical services and programs.
In our relatively short history the Foundation has quickly established a track-record of success. Thanks to the generous support of individuals and organizations from across Windsor and Essex County, the Foundation has successfully raised funds to purchase an echocardiogram machine, a breast specimen analyzer, a breast MRI, a Spect CT Scanner, a number of much needed wheelchairs, in addition to refurbishing several palliative care suites and a family respite room.
The hospital recently entered into a new five-year capital planning process, and the Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital Foundation is moving forward to provide the critical support needed to ensure that the technology and equipment needs identified by the hospital's healthcare professionals, are realized. Providing community-based cardiac care has been identified as a key priority for healthcare delivery in our region. Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital, with the support of the Foundation has committed to building a new angioplasty centre, creating two new labs that will allow our cardiac care team to meet the needs of everyone in our region who will require this life-saving technology and thus eliminating the need for people to travel to other centres for their cardiac procedures.
Other priorities for equipment and resources include: a dual-source CT Scanner, argon laser coagulator, digital mammography, specialized ultrasound machines for operating room usage, additional echocardiogram machines, renal dialysis machines, blood salvage units, bedside monitors and support for our caregiver education fund. With cutting-edge technologies and programs like these, Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital and its team of dedicated medical professionals will continue to meet the healthcare needs of Windsor-Essex County in the years ahead.
