Spin-off benefits: jobs and economic diversification
Our hospital expansion immediately creates opportunities for up to 180 full-time construction and skilled-trades workers. It provides valuable contracts to engineering and design firms, all of which support local employment. Once our facilities are complete, we will employ an additional 50 full-time healthcare staff.
The presence of advanced medical facilities also stimulates other healthcare development and spending. Practitioners establish labs and other facilities that provide excellent high-paying employment opportunities and vast economic spin-offs. New businesses emerge to supply these operations, again creating opportunities for entrepreneurialism and for new job creation. These waves of investment and development help to diversify and stabilize our region’s economy.
The project also directly supports our region’s strategic vision of becoming a haven for retirees. Seniors are attracted to areas that offer the advanced healthcare they need so they can fully enjoy their retirement years. Access to services such as angioplasty is critical to our region’s success in building this important market sector.
Through direct spending and through spin-off effects, our hospital expansion will play a vital role in stimulating a healthier more stabilized local economy.
