Heart Breaker Challenge
Message re: COVID-19
As you are aware, in early April 2020, a decision was made to reschedule the upcoming Heart Breaker Challenge fundraising event. As a result of this unprecedented situation, the Heart Breaker Challenge event will be POSTPONED until public health directives allow for us to safely resume regular event activities.
All current event registrations will remain and will be honoured for the new date in 2022. If this date when arrived upon, no longer works for you, two options are available:
- Transfer your registration to another participant that you have arranged - this can be completed online through Race Roster using the "transfer" option here (should you experience difficulties please contact Race Roster at 1-855-969-5515), or by contacting us at firstname.lastname@example.org .
- Convert your registration fee into a charitable donation to Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare for which you will receive an official tax receipt - please contact us at email@example.com.
We apologize if either of these options creates any inconvenience for you. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the event date change and/or the two options noted above, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and your message will be forwarded to the most appropriate person the address your concerns.
The Alcohol & Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has requested that EACH participant attend in person with government issued photo ID to pick up their event packet. Event packet pick-up will continue to take place at the Matchette Road entrance of Malden Park.
I would like to thank you for your tremendous support of this important fundraising event for Cardiac, Stroke & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare. 2020 would have marked the 20th year of fundraising for the Petro family through numerous events, and there is no one more disappointed in this news than the Petro Family. Our energies now will continue to support our local healthcare facilities and our healthcare workers in addition to other essential service workers to fight the spread of COVID-19 so we can once again bring our community together as one as public health measures allow.
As we continue to fight the spread of this pandemic, please stay safe, wash your hands frequently, and adhere to social distancing recommendations when you leave your home for essential needs. Please also continue to be kind.
We will get through this together.

Register for the ONLY mud obstacle run in Essex County where 100% of the proceeds stay local to benefit our community. Join us on Saturday, May 29, 2021 as Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare hosts the 8th annual Heart Breaker Challenge at Malden Park. This untimed 5-7km mud obstacle run is a fun and challenging event for participants of all athletic abilities. Go at your own pace, complete the obstacles of your choice and enjoy a refreshing cold beverage as a reward at the end of the course.
Last year’s Heart Breaker Challenge raised over $125,000 in support of the Cardiac Wellness, Stroke and Pulmonary Rehab Programs. These three programs support hundreds of local patients each year with their recovery and management of their cardiac pulmonary condition. Over 1,600 participants walked, jogged and ran the 7km course with a number of obstacles throughout with the goal of encouraging participants to "break" from their normal routine and change their "heart" with an activity that will be fun and have a positive impact on their health.
Online Registration for the 2021 Heart Breaker Challenge opens February 1st, 2021. Be sure to register early to secure your preferred waive time and to take advantage of early bird pricing.
