This position will be responsible for the daily operation of the patient food services cooking; shifts will be determined by menu on days according to business demands. This position will have to use all kitchen equipment, while ensuring proper food handling and time management. Will be responsible for following standardized recipes for current menu trends, patients, cafeteria, catering events, customer service and plate presentation and recipe manipulation for therapeutic diets. Complies with the Occupational Health & Safety Standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting safe work environment.

Education and/or Certification:
Certificate from a recognized culinary school and 3-5 years’ experience in food production in a healthcare setting
Safe Food Handling Certification
Food Prep 1 and 2 from a qualifying College
Recent experience and knowledge in current menu trends and culinary practices – two to three years experience required.
Skills and ability to train and motivate staff.
Skills and knowledge include cost control, kitchen operations and kitchen equipment
Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety, Level One Certification preferred.
