Reporting to the Program Manager, the registered nurse is responsible and accountable for the provision of safe, effective, patient focused nursing care to patients and families. In collaboration with the patient, family and other team members, the registered nurse is responsible for ongoing assessment and monitoring of the patient’s health status, identification of patient/family needs and the development of plans to meet those needs, the professional development of self and others, and in unit and hospital wide quality improvement initiatives. The registered nurse is responsible for the application of current theory and research in the delivery of care consistent with the vision and values of the hospital and the standards of relevant professional organizations. The registered nurse complies with the Occupational Health and Safety standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment. Float Team Nurses are assigned to Complex Continuing Care and Inpatient Rehabilitation.
• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary program care delivery model
• Experience in Complex Continuing Care or Inpatient Rehab. - preferred
• Thorough knowledge of nursing principles, procedures, and practice in accordance with the Standards of Nursing Practice of the ]College of Nurses and regulations of the Regulated Health Professions Act
• Availability for all shifts- required
• Good problem solving ability and ability to think analytically, innovatively, and independently
• Good interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities
• Ability to participate in nursing education programs and research projects
• General good health and a level of fitness appropriate for the demands of the position
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
• French Language proficiency is an asset
Education and/or Certification:
• Current Certificate of Registration issued through the College of Nurses of Ontario - required
• B.C.L.S. certification - required
• Certificate in Gerontology preferred
• Palliative Care Level I & II - preferred
• Recent ventilator care experience – preferred
• Behavioral Management in Working With Aggressive Patients – preferred
