Reporting to the Manager of Occupational Health and Safety & Wellness, this position is responsible for coordinating various injury prevention assessment and education strategies and supports and collaborating with other Occupational Health and Safety Department team members to ensure the safest work environment for HDGH employees. As a member of the Occupational Health and Safety team the Injury Prevention Coordinator reviews and complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and applicable policies, standards and best practices for the hospital, and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.
- Planning and organizational abilities to coordinate injury prevention assessment and educational strategies and supports for HDGH employees and Leadership
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships in a professional manner with internal organizational stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience conducting Physical Demands Analysis and Ergonomic Assessments and other analytical assessment methodologies, and preparation of objective and professional reports
- Takes a strategic and collaborative approach to addressing problems or identified concerns to ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and HDGH policies
- Ability to appropriately determine and prioritize scheduling of requested assessments and follow up supports and work independently in an efficient and effective manner
- Demonstrated experience creating analytic reports for statistical analysis and outcome measure effectiveness
- Openness and flexibility to collaborate and support other Occupational Health and Safety Department team members in a professional manner
- Experience with organizational policy creation and review, and research involving industry standards and best practice
- Ability to maintain employee and organizational confidentiality
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Positive attitude, exceptional verbal and written communication skills and a team player

Education and/or Certification:
- Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology, Health Sciences or equivalent – required
- Associate Ergonomist (A.E.) or Canadian Certified Professional Ergonomist (CCPE) or equivalent professional certification - preferred
- Relevant experience conducting Physical Demands Analysis and Ergonomic Assessments
- Relevant experience and understanding of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
