Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for the provision of safe, effective, patient focused nursing care to patients and families. In collaboration with the patient, family and other team members, the Registered Nurse is responsible for ongoing assessment and monitoring of the patient’s health status, identification of patient/family needs and the development of plans to meet those needs. The Registered Nurse complies with the Occupational Health and Safety standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.
3-5 years of Medical/Surgical experience – preferred
3-5 years of Complex Medical Care experience - preferred
Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to think innovatively and independently.
Ability to function within an inter-disciplinary team to facilitate safe handling and care of patients based on evidence and best practice
Thorough knowledge of nursing principles, procedures and practice in accordance with the standards of Nursing Practice of the College of Nurses and regulations of the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA)
Excellent communication skills; Proficiency in French language is an asset
Education and/or Certification:
Current Certificate of Registration issued through the College of Nurses of Ontario - required
Bachelor of Science in Nursing - required
Fundamentals of Palliative Care - preferred
Comprehensive Advanced Palliative Care Education (CAPCE) – preferred
Learning Essential Approaches to Palliative Care (LEAP) – preferred
B.C.L.S. certification - required
