The Mobile Mental Health Response Teams are partnerships between Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare and our policing organizations throughout Windsor-Essex County as well as Essex Windsor EMS whom provide a joint mobile response. These services are a client-centered mental health service delivery model that provides both first response and follow-up support to individuals experiencing a mental health related and/or substance misuse crisis in the community. These teams provide on-site mental health assessments, de-escalation, crisis support, risk assessments, facilitate linkages to community supports up to and including acute hospital support, advocacy and consultation/collaboration, and will be required to attend live calls in addition to regular referrals. All teams are partnered with an officer or a paramedic. First response teams provide immediate support when dispatched from 911 and the follow-up or referral based teams provide follow-up/assessment on a non-urgent basis. This position contributes to the hospital mission by being a team member, which ensures confidentiality, quality, and client-centered health care in the community.
Minimum of one year experience working in adult mental health – Required
Experience working on a mental health and policing team - Preferred
Proven crisis intervention skills and good knowledge of mental health illness and social problems
Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act
Knowledge of mental health support services in Windsor and Essex County
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all clients, staff, visitors of HDGH as well as our partnership organizations
Clinical skills to assess signs and symptoms of psychiatric illness, experience with psychosocial, and risk assessments
Good problem solving ability, and work well under pressure
Ability to pass an enhanced police clearance
French Language Proficiency is an asset
Valid Ontario Driver’s License, means of transportation and ability to travel on a daily basis for outreach services - Required
There will be an interview conducted with both HDGH and the requisite community partner program (Windsor Police Services, LaSalle Police Services, Ontario Provincial Police or Essex Windsor EMS)
Education and/or Certification:
Master Degree of Social Work - Required
Registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) – Required
First Aid/CPR certification - Preferred
