Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare Board of Directors
Linda O’Rourke’s focus has been on patient and family advocacy since 2012 after experiencing a family health crisis and the confusion surrounding accessible services. She was one of the original members of the former Erie St. Clair CCAC’s Patient and Family Centered-Care Council serving as a resource to help improve and foster exceptional patient care. As a Professional Practice Council member within the CCAC she assisted in providing a framework for advancement in professional practice that is patient and family centered. She remains a patient advisor with the Erie St. Clair LHIN sitting on ad hoc committees and working groups.
In 2015, Linda joined Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare’s Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC), and in 2016 she became a member of its Strategic Advisory Committee. She represents PFAC on Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare’s Board of Directors and its Quality Committee.
Linda participated in Health Quality Ontario’s Quality Standard Wound Care Advisory Committee as a lived experience member in developing quality standards to outline for clinicians and patients what quality care looks like. She is also a member of Wound Canada’s National Strategy Committee to assist in identifying, supporting and advancing issues of national importance related to wound prevention and management in Canada, and participates in public speaking engagements.
Linda has an undergraduate degree in psychology and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Windsor and taught within the Peel District School Board.
With her caregiver experience, advocacy work and her understanding of both the Excellent Care for All Act and Patients First Act she provides a unique perspective to the Board of Directors and the committees she serves on. Currently, Linda is pursuing a Holistic Nutrition designation with the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition and lives in Amherstburg with her husband, Don. She is an active supporter within her community.
