Shannon Landry is the Vice President of Clinical Services Restorative Care and Chief Nursing Executive for Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare (HDGH).
Shannon Landry is thrilled to take on the role of Vice-President of Restorative Care and Chief Nursing Executive at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare. Shannon was born at Hôtel-Dieu and worked at Grace hospital before the merger, truly making this a full circle moment in her career.
As Vice President of Restorative Care, Shannon holds her Masters in Nursing and brings with her, a passion and focus on equitable access to care, nursing administration, exceptional patient and family-centred care, patient and staff engagement, cultural sensitivity, and highest quality outcomes.
With decades of nursing experience, and 20 years of those in leadership roles, Shannon’s passion for caring for people is evident in everything she does. She spent 18 years in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where one of her favorite moments was seeing children return years later, healthy and smiling.
Shannon joins the HDGH family bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience from academic and small rural hospitals across the province, lastly, Bluewater Health in Sarnia.
When she’s not working, Shannon loves to visit with her daughter, Jennifer, and two grandsons in Ottawa, cherishing every moment they can share. At home, she enjoys gardening and spending time outside with her labradoodble, Bailey. Gardening is a shared hobby between her and her husband, Russ, who adds a playful touch to their lives by growing giant pumpkins which can grow to be up to 2000 pounds.
Baseball is a significant part of her family life; she fondly recalls the days spent cheering for her daughter, a talented player who received multiple scholarship offers to play ball at the college level. Her husband Russ coached her teams in baseball, which made the game of baseball something that brought the family together as one – which Shannon loved.
With her personal and professional experiences intertwined, Shannon is eager to make a positive impact in the healthcare community she holds dear to her heart. We are excited to have her as a leader here at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare and thankful for the expertise she brings.
Tammy Kotyk is the newly appointed Vice President of Mental Health and Addictions, bringing a wealth of experience and a heartfelt commitment to enhancing community well-being. With a strong background in mental health initiatives, Tammy is dedicated to fostering resilience and recovery through compassionate leadership and collaborative strategies.
As Vice President of Mental Health and Addictions she brings over 30 years of dedicated nursing experience to her role. Her passion lies in transforming mental health and addiction care delivery through innovative strategies and strategic partnerships. Tammy’s journey began as a frontline staff where she honed her clinical skills and developed a deep understanding of patient needs.
Throughout her career, Tammy has been a change agent. She spearheaded the development and implementation of new strategic programs that drive operational enhancements to maximize the quality and delivery of care to patients. She champions evidence-based care, ensuring that the latest research informs clinical decision-making.
Her vision for mental health and addiction services centers on de-stigmatization and access to quality care. Tammy’s commitment to excellence ensures that our organization remains at the forefront of quality care, enhancing patient outcomes and advancing mental health and addiction initiatives.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Tammy cherishes spending weekends with her grandkids, finding joy in their laughter and the special memories they create together. Family is a cornerstone of her life, and her enduring partnership with her husband, Jason, whom she has been with since high school, just shows her dedication to nurturing meaningful relationships.
Tammy's passion for animals is evident in her home, where she has provided a loving refuge for many rescue pets over the years. Currently, she shares her life with four cats and two dogs, each bringing their own unique charm and companionship. Her advocacy for animal welfare reflects her caring nature and commitment to improving the lives of all beings.
In addition to her love for family and animals, Tammy is also a talented baker. She enjoys creating delicious treats that bring people together, especially her co-workers who have gave her baking a 10 out of 10.
With Tammy’s experience and caring nature, she is excited to make an impact in the Mental Health and Addictions field. We are pleased to have her as a leader here at HDGH and are thankful for the experience and skills she will be bringing.
Clinical Scholar Program
The Clinical Scholar Program continues at HDGH with 19 individuals participating in the Ministry initiative that supports funding for experienced nurses with strong clinical skills and competencies and who work in supernumerary positions to provide clinical mentorship to nurse mentees on skills such as medication administration, time management, communication, documentation, knowledge base and critical thinking. To date, there have been 11 individuals who have circulated through a mentorship day.
The Schizophrenia Project
HDGH was 1 of 4 sites chosen nationally to participate in a Schizophrenia demonstration project led by the Ministry of Health Commission of Canada and Ontario Shores. Through the National Demonstration Project HDGH will benefit from a customized and a regional approach that will help our organization to optimize delivery of evidence-based care and strengthen health outcomes for people living with schizophrenia.
HDGH Data April – July 26, 2024: 114 clients have had a Schizophrenia Treatment plan completed by treating psychiatrist; 119 clients that have been screened for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Psychosis (CBTp); and 94 clients have been screened for Family Intervention Therapy (FIT).
