8th Annual Bob Probert Memorial Ride
On June 24, 2018, Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare hosted the Bob Probert Ride, a motorcycle poker run in support of Cardiac Services in Windsor-Essex. From 2011-2017, the Ride has raised over $750,000 to support the creation of a second angioplasty suite, the new wellness exercise room used by our Cardiac Wellness patients and now a satellite location that will make access to the exercise room easier for patients in the county.
It was announcded by Mayor Gary McNamara, that the selected satellite location will be part of the new expansion of the existing Tecumseh Arena that will include indoor sports fields, offices and activity rooms. The location in Tecumseh allows convenient access to the program in a catchment area which includes east Windsor, the town of Tecumseh, and Lakeshore. The new facility is going to have a walking track and other amenities that will be complementary to the cardiac wellness program.
Each year the ride is lead by a celebrity road captain the likes of Chris Chelios, Sheldon Kennedy, Jacqui MacInnis-Wood, Tony Amonte, Ryan VandenBussche, Darren McCarty and Dave Hutchison. This year's captains included Scott Parker and Meltdown. For more details on the ride please like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ProbertRide.
Message from Dani Probert
Thanks for joining us for year 8! Many of you have been here every year since our inaugural ride in 2011 and for that we thank you. For others, this may be your first time experiencing the Bob Probert Ride. If that is the case, we hope you will enjoy the day and come back and join us next year.
This event is more than just a motorcycle ride, it's a day that we pay tribute to Bob's memory. The planning and activities leading up to Ride day helps our family and close friends focus on making a difference in Bob's honour. So when you hear us say thank you, it's because we know YOU help make that goal possible.
It's important to share that all of the funds from this event, since year one, have stayed local and supported cardiac care services here in our community of Windsor-Essex. To UNIFOR Local 444 and Local 2458, your continuous financial and volunteer support from the very beginning has been invaluable.
To all the riders, supporters, volunteers and sponsors involved in making this event a continued success each year, THANK YOU. Together we are over 1500 strong individuals that not only say we want to make a difference, but have actively put effort in supporting a cause that is near and dear to my family. You have made the Ride a world class event, and I am grateful to each and every one of you.
Thank you to all the amazing sponsors for their continued commitment to the Bob Probert Memorial Ride and cardiac services in our community.
