Dr. Michele Askew, President of the Professional Staff Association
Dr. Michele Askew was elected by her colleagues at the March 2025 Quarterly Staff Meeting as President of the Professional Staff Association, having completed a one (1) year term as Vice-President of the Professional Staff Association. In this role, Dr. Askew will act as a liaison between the Professional Staff Association, the CEO, and the Board with respect to all matters concerning the Professional Staff (medical staff).
Dr. Askew graduated from the University Of Toronto Medical School in 2011 and completed her Family Medicine Residency at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry – Windsor Campus in 2013. She started her medical career at HDGH as hospitalist on the ALC unit and since has continued on as MRP on the Geriatric Rehabilitation Unit (RH1) and as a Hospitalist on the Complex Medical Care (CMC) Unit. Currently, she also spends the occasional weekend at WRH-Ouellette as MRP on the neurology/stroke unit. Dr. Askew has previous physician leadership experience, as she recently held the role as Clinical Lead of the Complex Medical Care Unit from 2017-2020.
Outside of work she has a very active and curious 2-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter. They love to travel the world (having just returned from France/Europe), explore the cities many parks and enjoy quality time with family and friends. She is excited to participate in HDGH this year as President of the professional staff, play an active role in hospital administration and attend board meetings.
