Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare (HDGH) is celebrating the first anniversary of the Bob Probert Tecumseh Campus, marking a year of bringing high-quality rehabilitative and outpatient care closer to home for residents of Tecumseh, Lakeshore and surrounding communities. The campus officially began accepting patients in March 2025 and was created through a shared vision between HDGH, the Town of Tecumseh, the HDGH Foundation, the Probert family and a dedicated community of donors and supporters.
In its first year of operation, the Bob Probert Tecumseh Campus has become an important access point for care, offering outpatient services including Cardiac Wellness, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Therapy, and the Geriatric Assessment Program closer to where residents live and work.
“Over the past year, we have seen firsthand the impact that accessible healthcare can have on patients and families,” said Rosie Pipitone-Middleton, Operations Manager of Ambulatory Services offered at the Tecumseh Campus. “The Bob Probert Tecumseh Campus was established to reduce barriers to care and better serve our growing communities. One year later, we are proud to celebrate the success of this vision and the difference it continues to make every day.”
Since March 2025, the campus has:
- Provided care to 422 patients.
- Supported 9,143 visits and appointments.
- Delivered support to more than 100 community seniors (65+).
- Achieved 100% overall patient satisfaction rate for experience at the Bob Probert Tecumseh Campus.
The campus stands as a lasting tribute to the legacy of Bob Probert and the community spirit that helped bring this project to life. Through years of fundraising efforts, including the Bob Probert Ride and related initiatives, more than $1.2 million was raised by the HDGH Foundation in support of cardiac care in Windsor-Essex, helping create opportunities for patients to receive care closer to home.
For patients and families, the impact of having services available in Tecumseh has been significant.
“The Tecumseh Campus is only 5 minutes away from my home. I wasn’t able to drive when I first attended so I had to pay for my transportation, which would have been so much worse if travelling to Windsor. I am now able to drive to therapy on my own," shares Dan Bellemore, a current patient at the Tecumseh Campus, who is receiving Outpatient Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy after spinal surgery. “Everyone here knows what they are doing, and then some. They are helping me a lot. It takes a long time to get back to normal, but I am getting there.”
The success of the Bob Probert Tecumseh Campus reflects the collaboration and generosity of countless individuals and organizations, including the Probert family, community donors, sponsors, volunteers, the Town of Tecumseh and healthcare professionals who continue to support the campus and its patients.
“Access to high-quality care close to home has improved patient outcomes and helped reduce some of the barriers residents in our community and region experience when navigating the healthcare system. The success of the Bob Probert Tecumseh Campus demonstrates what community-driven solutions can achieve and underscores the importance of continued collaboration,” said Gary McNamara, Mayor of the Town of Tecumseh.
As demand for healthcare services continues to grow across Windsor-Essex, HDGH remains committed to improving access, improving patient experiences, and delivering person-centred care in Windsor-Essex.
