The HDGH Regional Children’s Centre (RCC) Walk-In Counselling Clinic can often be a child and their families’ first introduction to services offered at RCC. The RCC’s Walk-In Counselling Clinic provides quick, confidential access to mental health services for children, youth and their families up to the age 18. No appointment or referral is necessary for walk-in counselling and the service is provided free of charge.
Service includes a 45-60-minute session with an experienced child mental health social worker who will work with the child or youth and family to identify issues, recognize and build on strengths and abilities to overcome the issue. At the end of session, they will have developed a plan of action that the child or youth and family can implement.
The RCC Walk-In Counselling Clinic can be accessed by children, youth and their families as often as needed. If it is determined that a single-session does not meet the need of the child/youth and family, then the social worker will help you make a referral for ongoing counselling services at either RCC or other community agencies.
If you’re a young person:
- Feeling sad, worried or angry
- Having fights with your parents
- Being bullied
- Dealing with a personal issue
Or anything else is on your mind, you can come and visit us at the RCC Walk-In Counselling Clinic.
